About this activity
This “relax and meditate” class is a yoga practice to help you ease and calm the mind and to relax the muscles of the body. The class is divided into two parts: doing yoga poses and meditation.
Ease the mind and relax the body
We will start with gentle and slow movement. Moving the body helps to release tension and tightness. With gentle movement and using little effort you will have a relaxed feeling afterwards. The slow pace will let you connect body, mind and breath with more awareness of the sensations in the body. Feeling more relaxed in the body will make it easier to sit comfortably in a meditation pose for a while.
The second part of the class is when we meditate. Meditation makes you look at your mind from a distance and observe your thoughts, so in time you will be less overwhelmed and distracted by your thoughts and experience more silence in the mind. Meditating in the morning helps to be more focused and less distracted during the day. In the evening it will be beneficial for a better sleep. Morning, afternoon or evening a meditation practice calms the mind and creates more stillness.
Meet the Teacher
Nathalie started doing yoga in 2001 in The Netherlands. From the start she has known yoga as a spiritual practice where the physical part is a small part of the whole yoga practice. She did yoga with two teachers who both included the philosophy in their classes and not solely focussed on the physical part. Nathalie was hooked right away and did much self study also.
When she moved to Aruba ten years later she started taking more classes. Since she did her first teacher training in 2013 she has been teaching a minimum of two classes a week. Throughout the years she trained with many teachers here in Aruba and also abroad. Hatha yoga, yin yoga, kids yoga and meditation are what she has the most training and teaching experience in. At the moment Nathalie is a 500+ hours trained and a 2000+ hours experienced yoga teacher, she has been teaching for almost twelve years.
In her meditation classes at One Healthy You Nathalie will have a theme for every practice to focus in. She aims to help her students have a more peaceful and calm mind, feeling more at ease, focused and organized. Meditation helps to experience less or even no more overwhelm from stress and worry.
